Hon Minister Arlette Soudan-Nonault Minister of Environment, Sustainable Development and the Congo Basin, Republic of the Congo. Since taking office at the Ministry of Environment, HE Ms. Soudan Nonault has given a strong political and intersectoral impulse to ensure better consideration of the environment in all development policies by involvement and awareness of all stakeholders. This dynamic enabled the government to conduct a structural and legislative reform in the sector of environment and sustainable development which led to the adoption of the first orientation law on sustainable development and the law for sustainable environmental management in Congo. HE Mrs. Soudan Nonault extended her action to the regional level as coordinator of the Congo Basin Climate Commission. She coordinated the process for structuring the commission and the establishment of the Congo Basin Blue Fund with the objectif of operationalization and implementation of regional and national projects. Last achievement and not the least led by HE Arlette Soudan Nonault, the organization of the Summit of the three Basins held in october 2023, to establish the first south-south cooperation framework on climate and biodiversity. Prior to her current role, Her Excellency Arlette Soudan Nonault was the minister of Tourism and Leisure (2016-2017) and the minister of Tourism and environment (2017-2021).
Mrs Arlette Soudan Nonault began her career in journalism and got early on involved in politics. She is a member of the political bureau of the Congolese Labor Party (PCT) and a Member of Parliament for Mbama, in the West Cuvette. She is the founder of a leading school complex in Brazzaville.
