Mr. Siddharth Sharma has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tata Trusts since 2023. He previously managed the sustainability portfolio of Tata Sons, the Tata Group’s principal investment holding firm. During his tenure, he oversaw the Tata Sustainability Group, a Center of Excellence that integrated the Tata Group’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) imperatives. Under his leadership, the company announced its ‘Net Zero objective by 2045’ and incorporated sustainability into the Tata Business Excellence Model. Mr. Sharma had a remarkable career as a civil servant with the Government of India before to joining Tata Sons. He held major positions in the President’s Secretariat, Finance, Urban Development, and External Affairs. After nearly six years as the 13th and 14th Presidents of India’s Internal Financial Advisor, he retired in February 2018 and joined the Tata Group in 2019. Mr. Sharma’s knowledge of the Indian financial system was enhanced while working in the Ministry of Finance. He was instrumental in directing the growth of the National Pension System (NPS) across other sectors at the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority of India (PFRDA). During his tenure as Minister of Urban Development in 2006, he also helped to shift the Indian government from cash to accruals. Mr. Sharma graduated from Shri Ram College of Commerce in 1989, where he was also the Secretary of the Debating Society, with a significant interest in public speaking and debate.
