Over three decades of leadership, Mr. Zubairu has efficiently directed billions of dollars into revolutionary infrastructure as a champion for African value capture, job development, and industrialisation. In his five years as President and CEO of the Africa Finance Corporation, he has nearly tripled investments to $12.7 billion, including the continent’s largest renewable energy acquisition, and doubled membership to 42 African nations, earning AFC the accolades of Local Impact Champion at the Africa CEO Forum Awards, Equity Deal of the Year for the Infinity Energy Equity. Mr. Zubairu was named African CEO of the Year at the recent AsiaOne Magazine Awards, recognizing his visionary leadership in generating growth and positively influencing communities across Africa. Mr. Zubairu, the pioneer CFO of Dangote Cement Plc, developed Africa’s largest syndicated project finance facility for a local corporation and oversaw Dangote Industries Limited’s watershed unbundling to listed companies on the Nigerian Stock Exchange. Most recently, as CEO of Africapital Management Limited, Mr. Zubairu collaborated with Old Mutual’s African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM) to create the Nigerian Infrastructure Investment Fund1, which will promote private equity investment into infrastructure projects throughout West Africa. Mr. Zubairu is an Eisenhower Fellow and a member of the fellowship’s Board of Trustees.
