Rohini Nilekani is a philanthropist and an author who has had a significant impact on the Indian social sector during the last three decades. Her charitable involvement encompasses several segments of Indian civic society. She launched Arghyam, a charity for sustainable water and sanitation, and Pratham Books, a nonprofit that provides millions of children with access to reading. She is currently the Chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies as well as the Co-Founder and Director of EkStep, a nonprofit education platform. Rohini is a member of the ATREE Board of Trustees, an environmental think tank. She was named a Foreign Honorary Member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2017. She is a member of the Board of Science Gallery Bengaluru, the Advisory Board of the Well Being Project since 2019, and the Dakshin Foundation since 2021.
